Bruce is a qualified engineer with extensive experience in materials, chemicals, flooring, cleaning systems, workplace safety, risk management and technical investigation.

His engineering and materials background provides a strong foundation for understanding the factors that can influence floor slip resistance, including surface composition, texture, wear, coatings, contamination, cleaning chemicals, cleaning methods and environmental conditions.

Before and alongside the development of Daniels Associates, Bruce gained extensive industry experience in chemical product development, technical support, commercial cleaning, healthcare environments and workplace risk management.

This broader technical experience has become an important part of the Daniels approach to slip resistance assessment. A floor cannot always be assessed by looking at a test result alone. The condition of the surface, how it is cleaned, how it is used and the surrounding environment can all influence slip risk.

Since 2022, Bruce has also undertaken expert witness and technical consulting work in matters involving pedestrian surfaces and slip-and-fall risk.

Bruce is also a member of Australian Standards Committee BD-094, which is involved in standards relating to the slip resistance of pedestrian surfaces.

Today, Daniels combines more than two decades of practical slip testing experience with broader engineering, materials, cleaning and risk management expertise.
